Police
have arrested a 16-year old boy following an incident in Stapleford which
resulted in a residential street being closed off overnight. Nottinghamshire
Police were called just before 9.30pm on Friday 10th April to a report of an
altercation involving four people in Brookhill Street, Stapleford. One man –
aged 31 – sustained head injuries during the incident. He was taken to
Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre for treatment for those injuries which are
not believed to be life threatening or life altering. Officers attended the
scene within minutes to arrest the teenager on suspicion of causing grievous
bodily harm, after he had attempted to leave the area. He remains in police
custody while detectives continue their investigation. Detective Sergeant Luke
Todd from Nottinghamshire Police said:
“This is
an assault which has left a man with some nasty head injuries following an
incident where those involved are believed to be known to one another. The quick police response has resulted in one arrest which means our
work can continue to help us to understand how the man came to sustain those
injuries. The incident will have no doubt been seen and heard by a number of
residents living in the street who will have been at home and following the
government ‘stay at home’ guidance. I would encourage anyone who has not
already spoken to our officers as part of our enquiries to call Nottinghamshire
Police on 101 as soon as possible as any information they have could help with
our enquiries.”
A section
of Brookhill Street was closed following the incident as detectives worked to
understand the circumstances surrounding the assault. The road reopened on
Saturday morning. Anyone with any information is
asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 876 of 10th
April when they call.
