student Elvis Duruaku, 24, appeared in court in Liverpool on Tuesday April 14th
accused of murdering a young man in a street fight. Duruaku is alleged to have
killed Hassan
Haadi, 22, in Everton on
Saturday, March 21st. Hassan
Haadi was found in Shaw Street, at its junction with Langsdale
Street, at 8.30pm. He was unconscious and given first aid by passers by who
called an ambulance to the scene. He was taken to hospital and treated for a
head injury but died on April 5th. Elvis Duruaku of Barker Avenue North, who
was studying at the University of Liverpool was arrested in Sandiacre on
Tuesday, April 7th, on suspicion of murder. He appeared at Liverpool Crown Court via a
video link from Walton prison and spoke only to confirm his name. It is alleged
Mr Haadi was knocked to the ground where he lay half in the road and that
Duruaku then stamped on his head. The defendant was not asked to enter a plea
to the charge and there was no application for bail. He will appear at a plea
and trial preparation hearing on May 6th.
