Monthly Meeting – Wednesday, 19th February 2020
Sandiacre and District Probus Club held their monthly meeting in St.
Giles’ Church Hall on Wednesday, 19th February 2020.
President John
Cosslett welcomed members, conducted the official business of the day and
discussed forthcoming events of the club. The meeting itself was the annual
event for the ‘John Littlewood Trophy’, a trophy presented to the club by Peter
Littlewood, son of John, one of the founding members of the club who was a fine
speaker and poet.
This year the
competition was a general knowledge quiz organised by member Michael Hey and
consisted of 3 teams of 4 and one of 5.
The winning team was Tony Taylor, Peter Northeast, Tony Hancock and
Derek French who were presented with the trophy by President John Cosslett.
The raffle of the
day winners were Fred Bromley, Derek French, Tony Taylor and Brian Statham. In
closing the meeting President John praised a very successful morning and
thanked Michael Hey and the duty stewards, Denis Dumelow and Peter Barber on
coffee, Sid Tidmarsh and Brian Statham on the raffle and Denis Dumelow for
setting out the room.
