Ladycross Care Home in Sandiacre which is under threat of closure could
offer some of its beds to local hospitals. The
home is one of seven care homes that could be closed after Derbyshire County Council deemed them unfit for
purpose. The home has eight community support beds which were opened
in January last year but due to staffing problems have not been used. The beds
are funded by the NHS and county council who are now looking to see if these
beds can be used to free up much-needed space in local hospitals. This has
caused some concern from relatives, who are unable to visit the home due to
coronavirus restrictions. The deadline for consultation on the closure of
Ladycross is April 24th, however, public meetings have been cancelled due to the
pandemic and all feedback needs to be done online, by phone or email.
