STAPLEFORD FIRE

Long Eaton and Ilkeston fire crews were called out to a fire at a property on Toton Lane, Stapleford. The incident occurred shortly after 2am on Saturday April 20th. A neighbour who had heard an an alarm went out with a torch in his pyjamas and raised the alarm after finding smoke billowing from the house. Within minutes fire crews were at the scene tackling the blaze.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service incident commander Kevin Tedds said: “It was brilliant work by the neighbour who went out in his pyjamas. It is thought the fire began in a utility room where batteries had been left on charge. The fire service said: "We advise you to check you have working smoke alarms, today they alerted a neighbour to the fire and we were able to get in quickly limiting the damage.”
